we made the kitchen with old planks from the barn, the objects are all bargain-hunted
I told you about it in my previous post, I’m launching a new category on this bog, another passion of mine : home decoration.
I’m a bit anxious, I don’t know if you are going to like reading about decoration here on a fashion blog, but since it’s kind of my home here, I’m taking my chance.
Interior design is a bit like fashion for me, I’ve been brought up among it since I was a child. My mom used to take me bargain-hunting a lot when I was a kid, and I have to admit it was not my favorite activity back then.Old dusty objects, often under the rain since the best time tu chase seconhand goods in Switzerland is in the fall… it’s not your favorite stuff when you’re 8-10 years old. Yet, I quickly grew an attachment for a few objects that my mom gave me, an old writing machine, an out of tune violin, a little veiled hat to wear as a costume, ancient dolls to dress up. I very much regret not having kept these objects…
At home, my mom used to spend hours redoing and undoing our interior, she made a lot of things herself, from curtains to headboards, she even made a canopy bed for my princess bedroom.
Let’s get back to our post of the day.
Today, let me introduce my house in Burgundy, I’ve been redoing its interior for almost a year now, everytime I get a chance.
I first started to do home staging, meaning I used furnitures and objects that were already in the house. Then little by little, from flea markets to yard sales, I try to find an identity to this house.
This house is originally a little cottage that has been re-attached to its barn. I possesses two floors but for now only the first floor is liveable. Which means it still has a lot of potential, what a joy for me !
I’m looking for sort of an out of time style with accumulations of objects of the same type to create a collection effect. I also like to distort certain pieces from their primary use.
There is still a lot of work to do, I’m not finished yet and I think it will be subject to a constant evolution. But today I can already share these few pictures with you.
I hope you like the idea and I will try to share the things I like and do in decoration from time to time.
