Let me share with you the last episode of the #WomenAreBack campaign for the brand Marina Rinaldi that took place in Milan two weeks ago. You followed me on social networks during this event but now I can really relate what happened there.
WomenAreBack is a fabulous project : get the 12 best international Plus Size fashion bloggers together and celebrate the new campaign for the high-end italian brand. As days went by, we happened to really bond and I was thrilled to join the girls for this final chapter.
The press gave a warm welcome to this event and we kind of did one interview after the other. It’s crazy because we’ve all been blogging for several years now and our blogs share already a certain reputation… Yet, it took this event to get some important mass medias to react. If you’re in China and you see us on TV, please let me know. Yes, Shangaï TV was there ! (which really made me smile, we must have looked like big riceballs for them :) )
Last July, we’ve all been posing for the photographer Riccardo Vimercati who produced very special portraits. Often when a photographer shoots chubby women he falls into a pitfall and ends up picturing them as either a pin-up, a « oh I’ve got a finger in my mouth, i’m so sexy » kind of girl or straight out nude because we might at least show a little flesh. (I don’t mean to simplify but let’s face it, they are a majority). Riccardo really surprised me with a series of photos filled with sensuality, profoundness, the essence of the woman and basta ! Because in the end, that is who we all are, not chubby or fat but simply women.
And that’s what WomenAreBack is all about : women, being themselves, with their differences, their resemblances, their unformatted personalities.
It was on Friday night, in the middle of the Milan Fashion Week, that Marina Rinaldi invited the very best of the italian fashion milieu to this evening where we are the guests of honor. You can imagine our emotion when we discovered, displayed in a big loft, our portraits large-framed and gently lit. Such an emotion that I couldn’t hold my tears. I’ve been blogging for 8 years and never saw a brand dare such a thing. It was powerful, intense and wonderful. Don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t because I saw my portrait (which wasn’t the nicest if you ask me) but the other girls are so beautiful, enhanced, women !
This event could have stopped there but I had the joy to learn these exciting news : WomenAreBack is now going to travel and the next stop is Paris ! So, if you are in Paris on Thursday the 10th of October, between 5PM and 8PM, you’re happily invited to come meet us, maybe share a few stories and tips, and celebrate WomenAreBack !
All the information you need is HERE.
So, will you be there ?
